Description
The Centre for Stem Cell Research housed in the Institute of MolecularMedicine; a-state-of-the-art facility in the heart of the Texas MedicalCenter; is seeking a post doctoral fellow with well documentedexperience in haematopoietic stem cell biology. The successful applicantwill participate in a project which will characterize the functions ofgenes identified in prospectively isolated cellular constituents(osteoblasts and vascular endothelial cells) of the haematopoietic stemcell (HSC) niche in the mouse bone marrow. Extensive and well-documentedexperience in in vitro and in vivo assays to probe HSC properties isessential. Such expertise should include (but not be limited to):
NOD/SCID transplantation for mouse and human transplant models;retroviral vector construction;
transcriptional profiling;fluorescence activated cellsorting;immunohistochemical staining techniques.
You will have the ability and drive to take ownership of the project andwill provide updates to the principal investigator on research progress.You are required to present your data in group meetings and assist postgraduate students in their research. The position requires a PhD in cellbiology and at least 3 years post doctoral experience in the field ofhaematopoietic stem cell biology. Salary is commensurate with experience.
