Three Research Assistant posts are available immediately in the Centrefor Molecular Oncology and Imaging within state-of-the-art laboratoriesat Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Charterhouse Square.
The Institute’s expertise encompasses the major disciplines of cancergenetics, biology, molecular pathology, imaging and therapeutics.
Postdoctoral Research Assistant

This post is available for three years and is funded by the MedicalResearch Council to systematically investigate recurrent chromosometranslocations/fusion genes in prostate cancer using microarrays, PCRand tissue array technologies. You should have a PhD in biological ormedical science. Appointment to this post will be made on the ResearchGrade 4/5 scale with a minimum starting salary of £28,647.
Postdoctoral Research Assistant

An Orchid funded position for one year in the first instance. You willinvestigate genetic alterations in prostate cancer using techniques suchas PCR, DNA sequencing and tissue array immunohistochemistry.
Analysing purified cancer cells through microdissection is essential forthe project, therefore previous histopathology experience is required.You should have a PhD/MD in biological or medical science and previousexperience in cancer research is crucial. Appointment to this post willbe made on the Research Grade 4/5 scale with a minimum starting salaryof £28,647.
Postdoctoral or Graduate Research Assistant

An Orchid funded post for one year in the first instance. You willinvestigate the cellular functions of a recently identified potentialtumour suppressor gene using techniques such as gene transfection andRNAi gene knock-down whilst observing the sub-sequential cellulareffects. You should have at least a BSc or equivalent in a biological ormedical science. Previous experience in molecular biology or cancergenetics would be advantageous. The seniority of the offer will bedependent on your qualifications and previous research experience.Appointment will be made on the Research Grade 4/5 scale with a minimumstarting salary of £26,451 per annum for a graduate and £28,649 for aPostdoctoral Research Assistant.
All successful candidates will be responsible for the day-to-dayprogress of the relevant research project and previous molecular biologyexperience in a medical research laboratory is crucial. A demonstratedability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain goodlaboratory records are also essential. All three posts are full time andsalaries (pay award and grading review pending), are subject toexperience and are inclusive of London Allowance. The benefits packageincludes 30 days annual leave plus 4 College closure days, acontributory final salary pension scheme and an interest free seasonticket loan.
