Description
A postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. John Mordes at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The lab investigates autoimmune (juvenile) diabetes in rodent models. Current research focuses on mapping susceptibility genes, testing candidate susceptibility genes, and identifying factors that account disease onset early in life. Planned work will rely heavily on RNAi and viral vectors. There may be additional opportunities for research in the delivery of RNAi as a medical therapeutic agent. Candidates should have a PhD in genetics, immunology, molecular biology, or cell biology, and prior experience in basic immunological methods, molecular immunology, and gene cloning. Willingness to work with animals is essential. The University if Massachusetts Medical School is a major academic research and health center 40 miles from Boston. Worcester offers affordable living and easy access to many activities in the surrounding area.
