Description

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position at the University of Michigan to investigate the role of the chromatin complex, SWI/SNF, in cancer development. On-going projects will focus on the impact of BRG1 and BRM loss on known anticancer pathways such as retinoblastoma and retinoic acid signaling and how the loss of these and other pathways clinically impact patient treatment. These projects will initially focus on the pre-clinical or basic science molecular biology of both BRG1 and BRM. In particular, we will focus on how BRM is epigenetically silenced and how to restore the expression of this gene clinically. This dynamic work will culminate in the drug discovery of novel compounds which can restore BRM and BRG1 expression.

Candidates must have done their undergradaute as well as Ph.D. training in the USA and have obtained their Ph.D. from an accredited school in US. Candidiates should be well-versed in molecular biology and/or cell biology techniques with a corresponding Ph.D. degree from a US institution. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a passion for science, innovative thinking and the ability to work independently and efficiently. Applicants should possess strong verbal and written communication skills to the extent that they can avidly review the literature, summarize the current state of the field, author papers and participate in grant writing. Applicant will be expected to work independently as well as closely with the PI to develop and execute experiments. The ideal applicant will be able to produce 2-3 manuscripts in a 24 -36 month period.
