Description

The Institute of Physical Chemistry at the University of Muenster (Germany) offers a postdoctoral position to work on atomistic computer simulations of DNA melting.

This project is part of the international Transregional Collaborative Research Centre TRR 61 “Multilevel Molecular Assemblies: Structure, Dynamics and Function”. It brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts on self-assembly processes from Muenster and Beijing. Our own group is specialized in studying the microscopic properties of complex systems via computer simulations.

In this specific project the unfolding dynamics and the thermodynamic properties of tetrameric DNA are studied for different external conditions with advanced numerical methods on a microscopic level. An intensive collaboration with two experimental groups, working on proton-driven DNA nanomotors and bio-sensors, is envisaged.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person with a PhD in physics, chemistry, biophysics or a related subject. The candidates should have a strong background in the atomistic modeling of biological systems and statistical physics as well as good computational skills.

We offer excellent research conditions and a stimulating working atmosphere. The candidate will be employed at a DFG-Postdoctoral level. The contract may be extended up to 3 years.
