Postdoctoral position

Environment:
The Department of Internal Medicine III has a strong focus on translational and clinical research in hematology and oncology. There are numerous interactions and collaboration with research groups around the world. Currently, research activities focus e.g. in the identification and characterization of genetic lesions and evaluation of their clinical significance in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) (for further information see also http://www.uni-ulm.de/onkologie/).

Project:
Recent advances in high-throughput sequencing technology have demonstrated that different cancer subtypes exhibit a far greater number of mutant tumor-relevant genes per individual tumor than initially expected, and many of the involved genes have not yet been known to be genetically altered in cancer. Thus, within a BMBF financed project we are aiming to identify leukemia relevant genes by applying a novel high-throughput ultra-deep amplicon sequencing approach in order to identify of leukemia-associated gene mutations of pathogenic, diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic relevance.

Requirements:
applicants must hold a PhD diploma in biology or biochemistry
strong background in molecular biology
- good interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills

Conditions:
position available from August 1st or later (initially limited to 3 years with the possibility to extend the contract)
salary according to TVL
