Description

I have a position open for a post-doctoral fellow in an exciting new program merging nanoporous metals and protein crystallization. In collaboration with Naomi Chayen at Imperial College in London through an NSF-funded Materials World Network program, we are exploring the fundamentals of heterogeneous nucleation of macromolecules (proteins) on nanoporous metal substrates. Please see http://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward.do?AwardNumber=0804187 for more information. There is great potential here for developing new methods to produce high-quality single crystals for X-ray structure determination, as well as to probe the basic surface and solution physics governing crystallization. The successful applicant will gain expertise in both protein crystallization and thin film metallurgy—a unique synthesis of two high profile technology areas.

Applications should include a CV, a statement of why you are interested in this work, and the names and contact information of at least two people who can write letters of support.
