Applications are invited from enthusiastic and ambitious candidates tojoin the Molecular Cancer Studies group, which is part of the newManchester Cancer Research Centre. You will be located in a superblyequipped state-of-the-art institute, which provides an excitingresearch-environment and houses a range of core-facilities (e.g.bioimaging, mass spectrometry, microarray analysis, RNAi-screening).Theproject investigates the microenvironment-mediated signal transductioninvolved in melanocyte homeostasis and melanoma progression. The workwill combine conventional protein-biochemical and cell-biologicaltechniques with novel live-imaging techniques to study aspects ofinvasion and metastasis in reconstituted cell systems.
You must hold (or expect to hold shortly) a PhD in Cell Biology,Biochemistry, or a related discipline. Experience in molecular biologyand protein biochemistry is essential, and skills in fluorescencemicroscopy desirable.
The position is available from October 2008 for up to 36 months.
