Description
A postdoctoral fellow position is immediately available in the Programin Glomerular Disease in the Nephrology Division at MassachusettsGeneral Hospital, to study mechanisms of proteinuria. Specifically, weare interested in the role of TRPC channels and calcium mediatedsignaling in glomerular podocytes. We are focusing on the mechanisms bywhich aberrations in calcium signaling lead to cytoskeletalrearragements which in turn may result in podocyte foot processeffacement and proteinuria. Our ultimate goal is to dissect out themechanism of podocyte dysfunction leading to nephrotic syndromes, bothgenetic and acquired (such as diabetic nephropathy, membranousnephropathy etc.). We are using molecular biology, biochemistry, cellculture, specialized imaging techniques, electrophysiology and animalmodels to study proteinuric syndromes.
Candidates should have a PhD and/or MD degree.
Candidates with a strong background in cellular and molecular biologyand biochemistry are preferred.
A background in the use of mouse models is also desirable.
Strong command of the English language is required.
