The J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) is a not-for-profit researchinstitute dedicated to the advancement of the science of genomics.Advances in sequencing have produced an abundant amount of data; ourgoal is to make this data meaningful to human health. We are excited toannounce a Post-Doctoral Fellow position for the Human Genomic Medicinegroup who will report to Dr. Pauline Ng. The fellow’s mainresponsibility will be to develop novel computational methods to analyzehuman genetic variation in genes and extend the SIFT algorithm, whichpredicts the functional impact of protein coding changes. The fellowwill be responsible for development of web-based computational tools toenable the large genome-wide scale analysis of genetic changes. Thefellow will also be involved in analyzing data from whole genomesequencing projects.
Successful candidates will have a PhD or MD in a relevant scientificdiscipline plus a strong background in programming (Perl, C/C++, Unix).Candidates will also have experience in computational genomics (proteinand DNA sequence analysis).
