Description
A post-doctoral research assistant post is available to work with Dr Nick Morrice for 2 years funded as part of the IRColl for Proteomic Technologies(http://www.gla.ac.uk/rasor/ ). The research focus of this post will be to use phosphoprotein binding proteins (such as 14-3-3’s, PIN1, SH2 domains) to enrich and analyse phosphoproteomes from cellular and tissue sources. The position is suitable for researchers who are familiar with protein chemistry and some experience of nanoflow LC-MS on state of the art mass spectrometry systems would be an advantage. A knowledge of quantification software packages such as MaxQuant, MS-Quant and Mascot Distiller would also be advantageous.
The appointment will be made on the Training Grade 7 (£25,623-£27,999) or Grade 7 (£28,839-£35,469) with initial placement depending on achievements and experience. The position can start at any time and will be for 24 months. Other benefits include 39 days annual leave and a final salary pension scheme.
The MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit is a major international centre for research on cell signalling. Research funding to the Unit is one of the highest in the UK and its innovative collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry (The Division of Signal Transduction Therapy) received a Queen’s Anniversary Award in 2006.
