Description

An opening for a post-doctoral position is available starting September 15th at the Structural Biology and Biocomputing Programme of the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) in Madrid, Spain.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in structural biology, biochemistry or a related field and should have extensive experience in all aspects of protein X-ray crystallography, including protein expression and purification, crystallization, structure determination and refinement. Experience with baculovirus expression is an advantage.

The research focuses on signaling and structural aspects of cell adhesion with particular emphasis on:
1) Employing protein X-ray crystallography in combination with biochemical, functional and FRET studies to elucidate detailed molecular events that regulate cell adhesion.
2) Employing structure based drug design for the discovery of novel anti-cancer drugs that target cell adhesion signaling molecules.

The candidate will work with a team of highly motivated structural biologists and biochemists and collaborate with cell biology and computational groups at the CNIO. The group has a strong expertise in dissecting detailed molecular events that regulate cell adhesion and collaborates with top international research groups to integrate the research into related fields such as growth factor signalling.
