Description
The Department of Bioinformatics of Tongji University invites applications for full-time Professorship of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, commencing January 1, 2010, or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will play a central role in the department’s program of research and teaching. The successful candidate will develop and sustain an independent and externally funded research program and to participate in collaborative research activities. The School of Life Sciences and Technology offers many opportunities for collaboration in methodologically and biologically challenging areas, including but not limited to epigenetics, iPS cells, development, cancer, and aging.

Qualifications
The ideal applicant must have a doctoral degree in Biology, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science or a related field and three or more years of post-doctoral or professional research experience. The ideal applicant should also have at least three first author or senior author papers published in the last five years with cumulative impact factor great than 20.

About the department
Located in Shanghai, Tongji University is one of the leading universities in China. The Department currently has 3 full-time professors and 7 adjunct and visiting professors, and offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate program in bioinformatics. We currently have 42 graduate students and 95 undergraduate students.
