A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), in the laboratory of Alexandra M. Pietersen to investigate The Role of Wip1 in Mammary Stem Cells and Breast Cancer.

The focus of the lab is to understand how regulators of stem cells and lineage commitment in the mammary gland can contribute to breast cancer. The Wip1 project utilizes tools developed in the lab of Dmitry Bulavin (IMCB, Singapore) to manipulate the expression of the Wip1 phosphatase and study the effects on mammary stem cells and resistance to radiation in tumor-initiating cells.
The experimental approach has a strong in vivo component, including the analysis of genetically modified mice and limiting dilution transplantation into cleared fat pads to quantify stem cell funtion. Another major component of the work includes the analysis of lineage commitment and apoptosis by flow cytometry, and sorting of mammary epithelial stem cells and progenitor cells by FACS for in vitro and in vivo assays. Interested applicants should be highly motivated, have a PhD degree in molecular biology, cell biology, or mouse genetics and
publications in internationally-recognized journals. Experience with animal work is preferred. The position offers an exciting work environment, assistance by a technician and good opportunities for the postdoc to apply for grants.
