Description:

The Institute of Experimental Internal Medicine offers a position in joint experimental and theoretical Systems Biology projects for:

Postdoctoral position (E13, TV-L)

Consumables and equipment will be provided. Applicants who have a commitment to scientific excellence as documented by a strong publication record in topics like:

(1) Theoretical and/or experimental analysis of signal transduction or regulatory networks

(2) Nonlinear dynamics and its relation to cellular function

(3) Analysis and modification of cellular regulation processe are especially encouraged to apply.

The biomedical research program in the Institute of Experimental Internal Medicine focuses on the biochemical analysis and mathematical modeling of signal transduction networks with a special emphasis on translational research. The model-based planning of experiments is linked to an iterative workflow enabling the identification and parameterization of adequate network models.

The institute is a member of the interdisciplinary “Research Center Dynamic Systems in Biology/Medicine and Process Engineering” and the “Magdeburg Center for Biomolecular System Dynamics and Regulation” funded by the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt within the “Excellence Program” and by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research within the “FORSYS” program “Research Units in Systems Biology”. The centers provide an internationally competitive research environment including state-of-the-art technology platforms such as protein chemistry, mass spectrometry and high-end microscopy. Further, the institute coordinates and participates in a variety of coordinated programs funded by the DFG (GRK 1167, SPP 1365, FOR 521, SFB 779, SFB 854), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (SysTec) and the European Union (Marie Curie Research Training Networks).
