Description:

The Inserm Unit 871 (Molecular Pathobiology and new treatment of viral hepatitis) offers a post-doctoral position for two years. The project aims at characterizing the hepatocyte innate response to hepatitis B virus infection. *The experimental work will be performed at *INSERM U871 (Prof. Fabien Zoulim’s team) and at IARC (Dr Massimo Tommasino’s team) on the same campus within the framework of a collaborative project between the two teams.

The INSERM Unit 871 laboratory, member of the University of Lyon, has a unique setting for developing basic and clinical research projects both on viral hepatitis and liver cancer. This is made possible by a research scheme allowing tight collaborations with the Department of Clinical Hepatology at the Lyon Hospital, the CLARA (Cancéropôle Lyon Auvergne Rhône-Âlpes), the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) and important links with FINOVI (Foundation for Innovation in Infectiology) and the Competitiveness Cluster LyonBiopole. The INSERM Unit 871, with a staff of 14 permanent senior scientists (total: 63 persons), has acquired an international recognition for its research effort on the understanding of the mechanism of HBV persistence ; HBV drug resistance and pathogenesis ; HCV pathogenesis and new treatment targets ; hepatocyte differentiation ; transformation and hepatocellular carcinoma development.

The candidate should have a strong experience in molecular virology and cellular biology.
