Virulence of the intracellular pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Highly motivated scientists with a strong background in (myco)bacterial genetics are invited to apply for a position at the Institute of Pharmacology & Structural Biology, IPBS (CNRS-University fo Toulouse) in Toulouse, France.

The successful applicant will develop a project aiming at a mechanistic understanding of the virulence of the intracellular pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis, including the generation of mycobacterial mutants. A strong background in molecular microbiology and bacterial genetics is required. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered at any level of the review process.

Gross annual salary will range from 30 to 41 k€/year depending on experience, and includes health insurance and dental insurance for the applicant and his/her family. Support will be provided to the successful applicant to find a place to live, to learn the french language through professional courses, and to pursue his/her career after the end of the contract in the best conditions possible, in France or abroad.

The successful applicant will join one of the top places for mycobacterial research in Europe, located in Toulouse, recently ranked number one city in France for its quality of life. Our department encompasses about 50 scientists, including 20 national and international postdoctoral fellows and PhD students, dispatched into 5 research groups working on biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and immunology of mycobacterial infections. In this environment, the successful applicant will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment for conducing his/her research project, including cat.3 lab and animal facility, and genomic and proteomic platforms.

Our team is very dynamic and encompasses 11 individuals including 3 associate professors, 3 postdoctoral fellows, 2 PhD students and 3 research assistants from France and abroad.
