Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Scienceand Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run highereducation institution between the Chinese mainland and the Hong KongSpecial Administrative Region. HKUST(GZ) comprises four Hubs, namelyFunction Hub, Information Hub, Systems Hub, Society Hub and offers 15postgraduate degrees.
The Urban Governance and Design (UGOD) Thrust in the Society Hub aims toconduct cutting-edging research and disseminate knowledge to assist inthe economic and social development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) andbeyond. UGOD is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow for cross-disciplinaryresearch on one or two of the following subjects: · Geographic Information Science · Remote Sensing · Urban Analytics · Geospatial Big Data · AI/Deep Learning · Sustainable Urban Planning and Design
The candidate is expected to work together with a research team toconduct multi-disciplinary projects and collaborative quantitativeresearch in urban governance and design towards a sustainable planet.
Qualification of Candidates · PhD degree holder who specializes in disciplines related to cities orcity science · Proficiency of written and spoken English · GIS programming skills Python, C++, and AI/machine learning toolkitsand frameworks · Research experience in one or two of the above mentioned subjects
The position will only be offered to a candidate who can be successfullyadmitted to The National Administrative Committee of Post-Doctoral Researchers.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service Salary is highly competitive of international standard and will becommensurate with qualifications and experience. All posts are ChineseMainland appointment to be offered by the HKUST Mainland entity inaccordance with the local employment laws and regulations. Initialappointments will be made on a fixed-term contract of 1 - 2 yearscommencing immediately. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject toperformance, mutual agreement, and funding availability.
