Description
A postdoctoral opportunity is available for an electrophysiologist toinvestigate the molecular and small RNA pathways regulating synapticfunction in developing brain circuits in the laboratory of Dr. Erik M.Ullian at the University of California, San Francisco. Our laboratoryuses a variety of molecular, cellular, and electrophysiologicalapproaches to study synaptogenesis (see Christopherson et al., Cell,2005 and Bjartmar et al., J. Neurosci. 2006). We have also recentlydeveloped several mouse models to investigate small RNA and microRNAfunction in intact brain circuits. The position entails the use ofpatch-clamp electrophysiology in brain slice and neuronal culture usingthese mouse lines.
This project also provides the opportunity to work closely with severallabs at UCSF and master techniques for purification of differentpopulations of CNS neurons for molecul aranalysis. Highly motivatedcandidates with previous experience with patch-clamp physiology andslice physiology are sought.
Interested individuals should have a published track record inelectrophysiology.
