Postdoctoral Position in Stem Cell Biology/Pediatric Cancer 
 
Job Description:

A post-doctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Shahab Asgharzadeh. The successful applicant will join a team that is taking a genetic and genomic approach to study molecular mechanism of neuroblastoma development. The project will focus on understanding the role of inflammation in the development of neuroblastoma. The project requires developing neuroblastoma models both in vivo (transgenic neuroblastoma mouse model) and in vitro (use of embryonic stem cells). Applications are invited from candidates who have a strong background in developmental biology with strong molecular biology skills. Qualified candidates must be self-motivated, independent and have a strong commitment to basic research.

The Childrens Hospital Los Angeles is a non-profit, academic research institute and has been affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California for more than 75 years.

Today, physician-scientists at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles address the most vexing pediatric medical problems and discover important new therapies for children everywhere, including advances in cancer care, gene transfer, stem cell and organ transplantation and diabetes. The Saban Research Institute of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles , the largest and most productive pediatric research center in the western United States, now ranks fifth in the nation in federal funding for pediatric research at stand alone pediatric facilities, including from federal agencies, like the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Candidates with previous experience in cancer research are desired. Passion for science, strong work ethics, and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
