Description

The Division of Pharmacy, College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Assistant Professor level. The ideal candidate will have an interest in toxicology, pharmacogenomics, pharmacoproteomics, or pharmaceutics. Applicants will preferably have an undergraduate degree in pharmacy and must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Post-doctoral training is desirable.

The successful candidate is expected to develop an active research program, to attract external funding, and complement the research activities of faculty in the college. Responsibilities include teaching in the area of toxicology, pharmacogenomics, pharmacoproteomics, or pharmaceutics in the undergraduate program and the supervision of graduate students. This position reports to the Dean, College of Pharmacy and Nutrition.

The College of Pharmacy and Nutrition offers undergraduate programs in each of Pharmacy and Nutrition/Dietetics, as well as M.Sc. and Ph.D. graduate programs.

The University of Saskatchewan (www.usask.ca) has the widest array of health science programs in Canada and is also home to the Canadian Light Source, Canada’s national synchrotron light facility (www.cls.usask.ca). A new Academic Health Sciences centre is under construction that will house all the health science colleges including the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. The scope of these programs and the strong affiliations with other National and local Research Facilities located on the campus including the Canadian Light Source, the Plant Biotechnology Institute NRC, along with the local centres such as the Structural Sciences Center, the Cancer Center and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization and numerous health care facilities across the province provide an excellent environment for collaboration in teaching and research (basic/applied).

Saskatoon has more hours of sunshine than any other major Canadian city. It is the largest city in Saskatchewan (population 230,000) and noted for its affordable housing, outstanding walking and biking trails along the riverbank, and small town spirit with big city amenities. Saskatoon offers world class events, festivals and attractions, a variety of indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, and more golf courses per capita than anywhere in North America.

The position is available January 1, 2010 or until the position is filled. Applicants are encouraged to submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching, research interests and experience, and the names of three referees by October 15, 2009 to:
