job description:
A post-doctoral position is available in a NIH funded research project to study the molecular mechanisms of ischemia induced brain injury. The research will primarily focus on the role of tyrosine phosphatases, MAP kinases and inflammatory molecules in neuronal cell death as well as develop effective therapeutic targets for treatment of cerebral ischemia. The position involves work on animal models of cerebral stroke (MCAO), cell culture, molecular biology and protein biochemistry.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. with a strong background in neuroscience and biochemistry. Expertise in cellular and molecular biology and histology is essential. Experience in small animal surgery (preferably MCAO) is a plus. The successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively in English and capable of working independently and part of a team.
