Description:
The first position investigates molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis including endothelial orphan G-protein coupled receptors, microRNA (miR-126) and secreted molecules (Egfl7) using conditional knockout mice and adenoviruses developed by our group (Development 135(24):3989-93, 2008; PNAS 105(29) 2008; Nat Med 15(6):701-6 2009).. The ideal candidate(s) will have extensive pre-existing experience in analysis of angiogenesis in physiologic and/or pathophysiologic settings, experience managing large transgenic/ko mouse colonies, command of written and spoken English and an strong publication record. Specific experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly desirable: lymphangiogenesis, tip/stalk cell markers, protein biochemistry and purification, analysis of embryonic vasculature, transgenic/orthotopic/sc tumor models, stroke, blood-brain barrier.
The second position examines the role of novel loci expressed in hemangioblasts during leukemogenesis, using bone marrow transplantation of retrovirally transduced bone marrow from knockout versus wild-type bone marrow.
