Job Description:
The University Hospital of Münster encompasses clinics and polyclinics as well as institutes specializing in research, training and in- as well as outpatient care. More than 7.500 employees work in the different departments and institutes of the University Hospital. The project is to investigate and characterise signalling pathways that are activated following the interaction of fibroblast-like cells from patients with inflammatory joint diseases with extracellular matrix components through transmembrane heparan sulfate proteoglycans. In addition to standard molecular biology techniques including viral and non-viral gene transfer (see Meinecke et al PNAS 2007), the study will use complex cell cultures models as well as animal models of arthritis using transgenic and knockout animals (see Zwerina et al. PNAS 2007).
Applicants must hold a PhD or MD degree, have a strong background in molecular biology/immunology and demonstrate profound knowledge of the aforementioned techniques together with significant publication history. Expertise in animal models, histopathology and imaging techniques would be of advantage.
The position is initially for 2 years with 38,5 periods per week. Salary will be according to the German TV-L 13 (formerly BAT IIa). The successful candidate will be expected to establish an own research group and show a strong interest in an academic career, including German ‘Habilitation’.
