Institution:
University Utrecht
Position:
Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Biology/ Mouse Genetics
Job description:
A highly motivated individual with doctoral straining in molecular biology is being sought for a four year postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. A. de Bruin at the Department of Pathobiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University Utrecht, in the Netherlands. The ultimate goal of the laboratory is to dissect the role of Rb/E2F pathway in development, tissue regeneration, angiogenesis, cancer and ageing. The projects will center on the introduction of mutations into transcription factors, using gene manipulation techniques in embryonic and tissue specific stem cells. (Nature 421: 942, 2003; PNAS 100: 6546, 2003; JBC 278: 42041, 2003; Genes and Development 21: 85, 2007) Opportunities will be available to utilize a wide range of molecular, cellular and genetic experimental approaches including in vivo gene therapy, conditional Cre/LoxP gene targeting, inducible gene knockdowns by siRNA, and microarrays.
You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research, network with internationally renowned scientists and enjoy the benefits of joining a supportive researcher community. The aim of the program is to prepare researchers for careers as independent academic scientists.
Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is the only Veterinary School in the Netherlands, and is a part of a larger 'Academic Biomedical Cluster' (more information is available at: www.abc.uu.nl). The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is among Europe's leaders in education, research and patient care.
The faculty employs approximately 1000 scientists, veterinarians and support staff and, to facilitate the attainment of 'critical mass', its research functions are coordinated centrally by the Institute of Veterinary Sciences and the Graduate School of Animal Health. Further information about the faculty is available at the website www.vet.uu.nl, while general information about Utrecht University can be found at www.uu.nl.
