job description

Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow or PhD Studentship in Chromatin Biochemistry

Location: Laboratory of Chromatin Biochemistry, Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen, Germany

Description: Our research team is trying to understand the biochemical principles underlying epigenetic phenomena using interdisciplinary approaches. One or more positions are available in an ongoing, joined project with the Mass Spectrometry group of Henning Urlaub (MPI-bpc), which aims at the systemic identification and characterization of interaction networks of proteins reading and translating chromatin modification patterns (for more details see Nikolov et al., Molecular & Cellular Proteomics 2011).

Qualifications: Candidates should have a strong background in biochemistry with an interest in epigenetics and proteomics/systems biology. Experience in mass spectrometry is of benefit but not strictly required. Junior scientists with high motivation for basic research as well as the ability and desire to work independently in a multidisciplinary and international research environment are encouraged to apply.

Salary: The successful candidate will be awarded a Max Planck Fellowship. Ph.D. Students can enroll in one of the GGNB programs ( http://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/56640.html ).

Application Details: Please send your application documents including CV, summary of research interests, letters of scientific reference and contact details for referees per e-mail to
