Description
A postdoctoral position is available to study regulatory mechanisms of membrane trafficking pathways in mammalian cells. The goal of our studies is to gain a molecular understanding of how membrane trafficking events are regulated in interphase and dividing cells. We focus on two major aspects:
(1). The interface between lipid homeostasis and membrane transport.
(2). Regulatory mechanisms of membrane transport during cell-division.
Current projects are aimed at understanding: 1. how lipid transfer proteins (LTPs) regulate the lipid composition of specific membrane domains and how they function and are regulated in living cells (Nature Cell Biology, 7; 225-234, 2005). 2. how membrane transport events are regulated during cell-division.
Advanced Molecular and Cell Biology methods, protein Biochemistry, and Cell imaging techniques are employed.
Candidates must have strong background in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Individuals with expertise in imaging techniques are preferred. Candidates should have their Ph.D. for no more than three years.
