A neuroscience postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Murray Blackmore in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. The Blackmore lab studies axon growth and regeneration in the injured spinal cord, and has had recent success in identifying genes and signaling pathways that promote regenerative potential in injured neurons. The successful applicant will employ cutting-edge approaches including viral-mediated gene delivery and optogenetics to assess and maximize functional recovery from spinal injury. Techniques will include neuronal culture and transfection, viral-mediated gene delivery and spinal cord injuries in vivo, behavioral analysis, optogenetics, and electrophysiology. Training is available for key techniques. Independent data analysis and preparation of figures and manuscripts is expected. If interested, please provide Dr. Blackmore with a CV ( murray.blackmore@marquette.edu ) and apply through the Marquette human resources website (below).
