A postdoctoral position is available to study the pharmacology of CLC-K chloride channels. The project will involve synthesizing and characterizing a panel of small-molecule inhibitors through site-directed mutagenesis and electrophysiology and developing a structural model of the inhibitor-binding site. These results will be use to design and test next-generation inhibitors with improved selectivities. This study will provide new tools for studying chloride channels and treating diseases such as hypertension and heart failure.

Job Description A postdoctoral position is available to study the pharmacology of CLC-K chloride channels. These results will be use to design and test next-generation inhibitors with improved selectivities. This study will provide new tools for studying chloride channels and treating diseases such as hypertension and heart failure. Ph.D. in chemistry, biophysics, biochemistry, physiology, or related field is required. Experience with both synthetic organic chemistry and electrophysiology is desired. However, highly motivated candidates with a strong background in one or the other will also be considered. An ability to think quantitatively and to communicate clearly is essential.
