Department of Oral Immunology
The King’s College London Dental Institute is the largest UniversityDental Hospital in the United Kingdom with 5 research, 24/24 teachingquality and 3 clinical rating. The Institute seeks to strengthen itsposition as the outstanding national and world-class centre ofexcellence for basic science research and healthcare provision.
One position is available for either a postdoctoral Research Associate(RA1A) or Research Assistant (RA1B) funded by the National Institutes ofHealth (NIH) until 2010 in the first instance to investigate theinteractions of HIV and Candida with mucosal epithelium. ThePostdoctoral Research Associate RA1A will be expected to lead researchinto the effect of HIV and Candida on oral and vaginal epithelium,whilst the Research Assistant RA1B will provide support research intothe same topics. The successful candidate will have previous researchexperience in either HIV, Candida, epithelial tissues ormucosal/cellular immunology. Expertise in molecular, proteomic/genomicand bioinformatic analyses of host/pathogen interactions will be highlydesirable. Starting date January 1st 2008 (negotiable).
Applicants will have a PhD (RA1A) or good first degree (RA1B) in arelevant subject.
Starting salary will be between £21,477 – £29,927 pa, plus £2,323 LondonAllowance and will depend on skills and experience.
