“Alternative splicing in the immune system”
The laboratory “Hematopoiesis and Cancer” at the Institut de RecherchesCliniques de Montreal (IRCM) seeks a highly motivated post-doctoralresearcher at a junior or senior level to work on deciphering thefunction of alternative splicing in the immune system. Of interest to usare in particular the role of the proteins U2AF26, the transcriptionfactor and chromatin modifier Gfi1 and the protein hnRNPL that allimpinge on the alternative splicing of the gene encoding CD45. Thequestions to be solved would be which role these factors play in thedevelopment and activation of immune cells, in particular memoryT-cells, and which target genes are regulated by these factors. Theproject involves using transgenic and gene deficient mice alreadyavailable in the laboratory that over express or lack the genes encodingthese factors.
