Minimum qualifications:
Ph.D. or equivalent degree; excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with only general supervision. Detail-oriented and ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to work with research animals.
Responsibilities:
The research project understands the function of molecular chaperones in tumorigenesis and stem cells using mouse models and human cultured cells. The applicant will perform experiments utilizing extensive Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and handling mice. The techniques include isolation of cells from organs to establish primary cell culture (including stem cells), FACS analyses, transfection of DNA (retrovirus, lentivirus) into mammalian cells, Western, Southern, and Northern blotting, subcloning of large fragments into plasmids, variety of histological techniques. This position requires independence in performing above techniques as well as decision making regarding the direction of the project and the detail plan of the project. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
This position is supported by R01 NIH grant funds.
Salary Range: $36,000 (Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience of candidate.)
