Description
A postdoctoral position is available (July, 2008) for an NIH-fundedproject to study dysregulation of VEGF mRNA processing and translationin a model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lu et al., 2007, J.Neurosci. 27, 7929-7938). The laboratory has a long-term focus onmechanisms of growth factor mRNA stabilization in brain tumors, and thisproject represents an extension of that work. The candidate should haveexperience in techniques of molecular and cellular biology as applied toin vitro and in vivo models.
The initial appointment will be for one year with renewal on ayear-to-year basis for up to three years. Renewal of appointment iscontingent on performance and availability of funds. Criteria forselection include a strong work ethic, scientific integrity and a solidtrack record (as determined by publication record, thesis performanceand letters of recommendation).
Salary is commensurate with experience and in line with NIH levels.Application Requirements: 1) A recent Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degreewith experience in cellular and molecular biology, 2) an introductoryletter stating the applicant’s interests, long term plans, and pertinentbiographical data including citizenship status, current address,telephone numbers and names of three references (with email and updatedtelephone numbers), 3) a CV with publication record and thesis topic.
