Description
We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to study therole of learning in visual processing and in visuospatial navigation inawake rodents. The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in Neurobiology,Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related field. Experience with in vivoelectrophysiology in rodents and a strong quantitative background,including expertise with Matlab, are highly desirable.
Our young research group focuses on the cognitive neuroscience of visualcognition and learning (http://ppw.kuleuven.be/~odbeeckh/). Thisresearch involves human studies with functional magnetic resonanceimaging and psychophysics, as well as rodent studies withelectrophysiology and psychophysics. We work in close collaboration withother groups in our department, most notably Johan Wagemans (specializedin intermediate vision in humans), Rudi D’Hooge (specialized inbehavioral phenotyping of rodents), and Detlef Balschun (specialized inin vitro rodent electrophysiology).
The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is identified.Start date is negotiable, but we aim for the fall of 2008. The initialcontract will be for one year, but funding is available for up to three years.
