Description
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Clinical Research IZKF “BIOMAT.” at theRWTH Aachen University invites applications for
two postdoctoral fellowships
The positions are available from July 1st, 2008, until June 30th, 2011,in the Institutes of Neuropathology (Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. J. Weis)and Neuroanatomy (Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. C. Beyer) in the frameworkof the IZKF-funded cooperative research group “Cellular and molecularpathogenesis of motor neuron degeneration”. The projects are focussed a)on the role of alterations of the VAPB protein in ALS pathogenesis andb) on molecular mechanisms of gender-related aspects of motor neurondegeneration, in particular the influence of steroid hormones and localastroglial milieu. In these projects, neuronal cell culture as well astransgenic mouse models of motor neuron degeneration and biopsy andautopsy tissues from human ALS patients will be used.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in molecular/cellular neuroscience,molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field or a M.D. degree.
Salary according to TV-L EG 13.
