The Post-doctoral Researcher in the Atherosclerosis Research Center will work closely with other research scientists in the laboratory, providing assistance with studies in comparative medicine using mouse models. The candidate will conduct studies on the cardiovascular system using immunohistology, multicolor fluorescene imaging, microscopy, and in situ hybridization.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized with strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with laboratory personnel.

Candidate will be able to independently perform increasingly complex experimental molecular and cellular biology protocols and procedures. In addition, the candidate will be involved in research projects which will include hypothesis development, data analysis, preparation of manuscripts and grants.

Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientist, the Research Fellow will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Analyzes and interprets data. May assist in preparation of grant proposals. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. Not responsible for generating grant funds.

Educational Requirements:
Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of life sciences.

Experience:

Several years of related laboratory experience, willingness to work with small animals.

Ability to understand and follow instructions in English. Knowledge of laboratory methods including cell and molecular biology, immunohistochemistry. Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Candidates should have a demonstrated record of significant scientific accomplishment at the graduate or postdoctoral level.
