Institution:
University of Pittsburgh
Position:
Post-Doctoral Research Position in the Vascular Bioengineering Research Lab
Job Description:
A post-doctoral research associate is sought to study the effects of biophysical forces on vascular biology and pathophysiology. This position will integrate with ongoing NIH-funded research, and will interface with a multidisciplinary team that includes cell and molecular biologists, vascular surgeons, and bioengineers. The candidate should have extensive, demonstrated experience in molecular and biochemical proteomic techniques performed on vascular tissue from a variety of organisms, including pig, rat, mouse, human, and others. Experience would include quantitative and qualitative microscopy, immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, in situ zymography, casein and gelatin zymography, ELISA, protein and RNA isolation, etc. Successful candidates should have experience in handling vascular autofluorescence while performing multilabel immunohistochemistry viewed by epifluorescence microscopy. Demonstrated ability to isolate total protein and total RNA from small amounts of vascular tissue (<100mg) and the ability to troubleshoot all of the techniques, especially as related to calcified human aortic tissue and pig tissue, are desired. The successful candidate will have doctoral-level training in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field, and have a demonstrated ability to perform the above techniques on vascular tissue. Sound English language skills are also essential.
Candidates must already have (or easily obtain) authorization to work in the United States.
