After almost 20 years of successful results in model-based traffic prediction, including the recently awarded 2011 IEEE ITS Outstanding Achievement award, DynaMIT is being redesigned to consider new technologies (e.g. V2V communication) and new types of data. The new system will apply the state-of-the-art in high performance computing, model-based traffic prediction, and data fusion.

FM IRG is currently seeking to employ a Transportation Engineering researcher to play a leading role in the research and development process of the project, comprising teams from both MIT and Singapore, and in collaboration with several international research and industry partners. This position will be based at the SMART Center in Singapore, an off-campus MIT research center based in the CREATE campus of Singapore.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Lead the interface between the research and development teams, both at MIT and Singapore, particularly understanding and validating quality of research achievements (e.g. route choice models, calibration algorithms) to bring to open source implementation;
- Perform fundamental and/or applied research that contributes to DynaMIT2.0 goals, according to the applicants interests and capabilities (e.g. behavioural models, optimization, calibration, data mining, etc.)
- Lead field deployment processes for DynaMIT (1.0 or 2.0, e.g. in Singapore or other cities).

Requirements:

- Doctoral degree in Transport Engineering or related;
- Advanced skills in terms of mathematical optimization and programming;
- Experience with simulation, dynamic traffic assignment, transport modeling and traffic prediction;
- Good communication, team leadership and management skills.
