The project, funded by the Dutch science organization (NWO ), sets out to examine the role of the thalamus in cerebello-cortical information processing. We will not only study which activity patterns in the cerebellar nuclei are projected to thalamocortical networks and how they come about, but also what the impact is on thalamocortical neurons and the behavior encoded. To do so, we will use in vitro and in vivo electrophysiological techniques as well as optogentic tools (genetically and virally encoded) and behavioral assessments.
We invite highly motivated students with a PhD-degree in Neuroscience to apply for this position. A strong background and track-record in cell physiology is required. We are looking for independent, but team-oriented candidates with excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
The appointment will be for three years. The position is available from July 2013.
Please send your application including letter of motivation, curriculum vitae and two contacts for reference as email attachments to Dr. Freek Hoebeek ( f.hoebeek@erasmusmc.nl ). Evaluation of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the opening is filled. Candidates are selected for a personal interview and a seminar at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam on the basis of their application material.
