Description
Our laboratory is studying signaling pathways that are regulated by the molecular chaperone Hsp90 together with a system of co-chaperone proteins. (Hawle et al. (2006) Mol Cell Biol 26: 8385-8395; Harst et al. (2005) Biochem J 387: 789-796; Brychzy et al. (2003) EMBO J 22: 3613-3623; Lotz et al. (2003) J Biol Chem 278: 17228-17235)
The successful candidate will use a transgenic mouse model to analyze the physiological role of the Hsp90-cochaperone system in health and disease like the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders and cancer development. For further information see our website: www.utmb.edu/ncb/Faculty/ObermannWolfgang.html
Requirements
The successful candidate will have expertise in the generation and breeding of transgenic mice from embryonic stem cells. A strong background in genotyping of animals by PCR and Southern-blotting, mouse-anatomy, cell biology and immuno-histochemistry is a must.
